in 2008 to all our members, parents, and supporters!
- Gunter and several of our resident athletes
are in Colorado for high altitude training over the Christmas
break. After their trip west, most of the group will spend some
time training in VT for a few weeks of cross training.
- Dates to remember:
•CT Indoor Rowing Championships—February 2nd
•Crash-B Sprints World Indoor Rowing Championships, Boston,
February 24th
- Lactate Testing: winter
training is here! There is no time like the present to
examine your heart rate target ranges to maximize your training
and recovery. Call Guenter (203-559-6450)
to make an appointment or call the office. GMS Personal
Training Program coupled with lactate testing has proven results...
- Fitness and Weight Loss Program starts up
after the holiday break on Wednesday January 2nd at 9am: Linda
Leaden, certified personal trainer, is running the program. Contact
Linda for more info. New participants are always welcome. The
holidays are over and there is no time like today to get your
nutrition and fitness back on track….. yesterday, you said
tomorrow! Call 860-488-6400 for more details.
Scheduled to meet:
9am -10:30am Monday and Wednesday and Friday
6pm-7:30pm Tuesday and Thursday
- Please be mindful of our environment and budget when leaving
GMS barn, office, and lecture room. The costs of heating, even
just during program times, are astronomical because it is, after
all, a barn and our safest way to heat is electric. We are always
trying to keep our costs, and therefore our membership and program
fees, as low as possible. Conserving electricity is one way we
can control our costs as well as help the ‘green’
cause. We are looking for ways to improve the heat retention in
the areas that seem to be the coldest as well as more efficient,
safe, electric heaters.
- Plan to arrive with time to turn the heat on 15 minutes before
you begin your workout
- Wear extra layers and a hat that you can remove after your warm-up
and through out your piece
- Lights and heat should be turned OFF if you are the last individual
or group finishing your session.
We thank you for your cooperation!
Programs:
Juniors and Cadets:
Monday-Friday 3:30- 5:30 – Sessions start
after holiday break, Friday January 4th.
Parents, please send in a case of water to be
stored in each locker room to be used during practice. The kids
tend to forget to bring water in the colder months even though they
still need to be drinking during exercise, especially for those
tough erg pieces.
Parents: remember
that introducing a new junior member entitles you to claim a $100
one-time reduction for each student who joins
