Mike O’Leary will be supervising some skilled work on the second floor of the barn in the new workout area and can use skilled labor (i.e., do you have lots of experience with power tools?). IF that is not you, don’t despair…. See next item! Many hands make light work cleaning up the boat house on May 3rd…

Don’t be surprised to return from the water and find slings in the barn and the doors closed if you are not in the log book and the person returning before you didn’t know anyone was out there.
  • Spring Training Camp in South Carolina was a great success. Juniors from GMS and Saugatuck Rowing Club, along with a few masters, traveled to Summerton SC and trained 3x/day on beautiful Lake Marion, as well as on the buoyed 2000m training course on Langley Pond near Augusta for racing at the end of the week. A big thank you to our coaches, Guenter and Yuri from GMS and Catherine Starr from Saugatuck, for making the camp challenging and fun. There is nothing like a training camp (with soccer!) to get one jump- started for the season.

Lactate Testing: Racing is weeks away! But do you know how you are doing—too little, too much, too fast, too slow?? There is no time like the present to tweak your heart rate training ranges to maximize your training. Call Guenter to make an appointment or call the office. GMS PTP (Personal Training Program) coupled with lactate testing has proven results.

GMS is GOING GREEN!! In our efforts to recycle, there are grey garbage cans located near the locker rooms, near the entrance to the weight room and another down by the dock. Please place all empty water bottles in the cans. We collected 2 large bags in just one week! Thanks for your support.
