| The GMS
Rowing Center is an innovative new rowing club located on the
tranquil waters of Lake Lillinonah, in New Milford, CT. The sizable
lake allows for long-distance rowing with minimal turning. A 3500
sq. ft boathouse, good selection of Club boats, protected dock and
launch area, as well as ample parking complete the picture of this
inviting new club.
The miles upon miles of protected water and beautiful scenery provide
a perfect venue for all rowers:
- From novices just getting acquainted with
this fast growing sport
- Recreational rowers
- Juniors, college rowers home for the summer
- Adults (Master’s Competitive Program)
- Elite competitors
This tranquil setting is ideal for:
- Focusing on technique
- Conditioning in preparation for upcoming
races
- The sheer enjoyment of the sport
The Rowing Center provides various packages to suit you and your
schedule whilst helping you improve your technique and fitness.
This includes weekday programs, weekend camps and private training
sessions. In addition a highly regarded personal training program
and lactate profile testing are available to ensure you are ready
to compete at your optimal level.
Guenter Beutter (Technical Director) majored in sports science and
psychology at Geissen University and subsequently had research papers
published on lactic acid production, oxygen uptake and the use of
magnesium supplements among high performance athletes. In 1989 he
was recruited into the German National Team. From 1989 -1997 he
coached both men and women in the sculling and sweep boats. His
athletes competed in five world championships earning four gold
and one silver medal. In 1997 he was appointed head coach of the
women’s lightweight Quadruple Scull which medaled at all major
European regattas and earned a gold medal at the 1997 World Championships.
