This fall GMS Rowing
Center is hoping to collaborate with Western Connecticut State University
to help establish a Crew program for all interested students. The
aim is to create both a men’s and a women’s program,
trained to compete on the college circuit. The ultimate goal is
for Crew to be recognized as a Club Sport. However, until it has
established itself as a sustainable program, participation will
be financed out-of-pocket.
Rowing
has numerous benefits which include:
- Developing fitness and strength
- Ultimate Team Sport
- Great cross training for other sports
- Non-impact sport
- Life-long sport
It is most likely to appeal to:
- Those interested in trying a new sport
- People cross training for other sports
- Anyone looking to develop fitness
and strength
At GMS we have some of the best rowing water in the Northeast, coaches who train at the
National level and a wide variety of boats.
If you are interested in learning more, PLEASE register at the Crew table on
September 4th at the Clubs Carnival or send an e-mail to enquiries@gmsroingcenter.us.
A further meeting will then be organized for Sept 11th at 7:30pm
to discuss timings, transport, costs and other details.
